Fort McMurray Fire Update
Last updated: Thursday, July 7, 2016
To date 22 families from Faith Church have returned to Fort McMurray. One family has decided to remain in Edmonton for the time being and commute back and forth. The 4 families that lost their homes have accommodation and are coping as well as can be expected.
Faith Church wishes to say Thank you for all the support the congregation has received. The support is appreciated, your caring, your prayers and generosity have put a new meaning to ” faith “. In times like this, we all come together as Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
Faith Church, under the direction of the interim moderator, Rev. Dianne Ollerenshaw, has been holding its Sunday morning worship services at the home of the Clerk of Session as the Westwood school is still being cleaned. We anticipate that we can move back to the school mid to end of August. The attendance is better than ever for summer months as people want to reestablish a normal routine. We come together in worship, time of fellowship and and in faith. Just to be together and be “one” is so comforting to all of us. Fort McMurray is coming together in unity to rebuild and regroup, not just as a city but as a community. Thanks be to God.

Faith Presbyterian Church, Fort McMurray Thanks the PCC for the Support After the Wildfires
Dear Members and Friends of The Presbyterian Church in Canada,On behalf of the Session of Faith Presbyterian Church, Fort McMurray, Alberta, we would like to thank you for your support of our congregation these past eight weeks following the wildfires in northern Alberta. We have been blessed by words of encouragement and prayer, by financial gifts to assist in rebuilding and to strengthen people who completely lost their homes, and by gifts in kind. Your thoughtfulness, acts of generosity and kindness have blessed our community. Through your compassion and support we have seen the face of Jesus and experienced the grace and love of God among us. Thank you!To provide a brief update, the re-entry process to Fort McMurray began on June 1, on a voluntary phased basis, and we still have families making their way home. Our first worship service in Fort McMurray was held on Sunday, June 12, within the home of the Brewers and on June 19 we celebrated communion with our interim moderator, The Rev. Dianne Ollerenshaw. In August we hope to resume worship in the theatre of Westwood High School, which is our regular place of worship. We are looking forward to getting back to the “normal routines” of congregational life and stepping out in faith as we go forward by the grace of God.
Faith Presbyterian Church, a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, welcomes you with open arms, open minds, and open hearts into our spiritual family and journey of faith.
Please join us for worship on Sundays at 10:00am. Sunday school is provided for children of all ages.
Our weekly services are held at:
