For 40 years Distress Centre Peel has been operating a telephone support line 24/7.  Their trained, compas-sionate and non-judgmental volunteer team provides listening, emotional support, information and referrals to those living in the Peel Region.   All calls are confidential.

Join us Saturday, May 5th at 8:00 a.m. Enjoy a delicious free breakfast while you learn more about this community service and hear from one of their dedicated volunteers about what it is like to work on the front lines.

FREE MOVIE NIGHT

Saturday, May 5th, 7 p.m.

Tired of the long line-ups and steep prices at the regular movie theatres?  Worried about whether the movie will be appropriate for your young children?

Then why not try FREE movie night at Glenbrook!  Free movie night is held the first Saturday of every month.  It’s the movie theatre experience, without the movie theatre price or congestion!  Best of all, you can be assured that the movie is suitable for all ages.

Daniel “Rockintata” Concert

Saturday, May 26th at 7 p.m.

50% rock band, 50% choir, 100% Christian.  That’s how you could best describe Glenbrook’s Press B Senior youth Group.

On May 26th at 7 p.m. Glenbrook’s Press B will be presenting a “Daniel Rockintata”.  Through narration, choreography and music the youth will present the story of Daniel.  The rockintata will feature music by contemporary artists such as Elton John, the B52s, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith and more!

Admission is free but donations will be accepted in support of the Lions Foundation of Canada’s Dog Guide programs.  The Lions train five kinds of dog guides:  Canine Vision, Hearing Ear, Special Skills, Seizure Response and Autism Assistance.  Each dog guide costs approx. $20,000 to raise, train and place but is provided at no cost to qualified applicants.  More information on this charity can be found at www.dogguides.com.

Spring Cleaning?

Save your items for Glenbrook’s GIANT Garage Sale

June 16th, 8 a.m. – Noon

Cleaning out your closet?  Re-organizing your garage and tool shed?  Please consider donating those items you no longer need to Glenbrook for our annual GIANT garage sale.  These are the items we especially need:

  • small electrical appliances
  • furniture (no larger than can be transported in a family vehicle)
  • CDs/DVDs
  • Books
  • Housewares
  • Tools
  • Toys (but please no stuffed toys)

Please DO NOT donate clothing or shoes or Christmas trees.

Items can be dropped off at the church on Friday, June 15th beginning at 2 p.m.

PD Day Camp,  June 11th, 2012

PD Day Camp at GlenbrookAt Glenbrook, “Professional Development” days means “Play all Day” Camp! Glenbrook staff and volunteers are organizing one more PD day camp filled with music, crafts, snacks, movies, outdoor play and more! The camp is open to children ages 5 – 10 years and runs from 8:30 a.m. -4:30 p.m. Extended hours are available (drop-off at 7:30 a.m. and pick-up at 6:00 p.m.) Cost is $10 per child, $5 for each additional sibling. There is a $5 fee per child for extended hours. Please note that while two snacks will be provided, participants need to bring lunch from home.
