131ST ANNIVERSARY SERVICE

We will be celebrating the 131st Anniversary of Knox Church on Sunday evening October 21st at 7:00. There will be a special worship service with Rev. Brian MacLeod from Knox Presbyterian Church Baddeck as our guest speaker. Shane MacFarlane has graciously agreed to join us as well. He will be offering a solo which we are certain will be a blessing to the congregation. Lorel and Ella will also be doing a selection or two. They continue to amaze us. Come and join us to mark this special time in the life of Knox. A time of wonderful fellowship will be enjoyed in the lower hall afterwards. We would love to see you there. ❤️

BRIAN MACLELLAN- ELDER, CHOIR MEMBER, BOARD MEMBER, FRIEND

It is with deep sorrow we announce the death of Brian MacLellan. Writing this post has been difficult. September has been difficult. On Saturday night, Sept.15th Brian collapsed while performing with the ” The MacLellan Brothers Band “. He was rushed to the Strait Richmond Hospital and was air lifted to the CCU Halifax Infirmary. On Saturday, Oct. 22nd he was taken of all life support and peacefully passed away one day shy of his 57th birthday. Brian was ordained as an Elder of Knox in 1999. He served on the Board of Managers and was a long serving choir member. He often brought his guitar along to church with him. He was a true Christian who loved to sing and play music in order to worship, praise and bring glory to God. His cheery grin was ever present and he was always willing to help out at every occasion in the life of the church. He was the same in the entire community. He will be missed by everyone who knew him, near and far. Our deepest sympathies go out to his entire family, especially his wife Thea ( our church treasurer ), his daughter Lorel ( choir member / musician ) and Ella ( choir member, musician / organist ) . Brian and his family have been special to us at Knox. Brian is gone from us now and we will hold Thea and the girls close and be there for them whenever and however they need us. The strong faith and trust in God that they have shown throughout these last few weeks has been remarkable. We can all learn from them. There is a song ” I Can Only Imagine”  by Bart Millard of Mercy Me. Check it out on You Tube. I cannot help but think of Brian when I hear it. I have no doubt Brian is dancing and singing. Thank you God for bringing Brian into our family at Knox and now we entrust him back to your care. Amen

The first meeting of the 2018/2019 season of Knox AMS will meet at the home of Duncan and Thelma Grant on Sunday evening October 14th 2018. Rhoda will be leading this meeting. We are certainly looking forward to being back together again. The things we learn about mission are exciting, the devotions are meaningful and the fellowship we enjoy is priceless. We welcome new members and associate members anytime. Please consider joining us.

HONORING YEARS OF SERVICE TO KNOX CHOIR

Yesterday our Knox church family celebrated the contributions of two beautiful and wonderful ladies. God has given each of us talents of one sort or another and He gave these ladies the gift of having beautiful singing voices. Christine MacLeod has been in the Knox choir for over 50 years and Thelma Grant for over 40 years. Rev. Peter presented each of them with a plaque from the congregation and the AMS honored them with hanging baskets . They both have used their talents to please us and most certainly to please God as well. Thank you, and may God bless both of you for many years to come.

FOOD BANK

The Boularderie Food Bank’s suggested needs this coming month are tea, canned meat and macaroni pasta but any donations are greatly appreciated. You can leave donations with any Knox member and John will make sure it gets delivered to the Food Bank. Thank you to all who support this need in our community and please keep their work and those it supports in your thoughts and prayers. The next deadline is October 24th .
