Dear Friends
Invitations September 12, 2011

Dear Friends:
This month at St. Andrew’s Church, Arnprior, we have been thinking about the theme of Invitations. Specifically, we are considering some of the invitations that Jesus offered.
The invitations, we have read from the Bible, include John 1: 35-46. Come and See, Matthew 11: 28-30, Come to me, and this coming Sunday, we will be considering, Mark 1: 16 -20, Come with me.
The invitations of Jesus beckon people, to be in relationship with him, to see, and to experience all that Jesus is. A relationship with Jesus helps us to experience the hope, courage, forgiveness, peace, and love that Jesus offers us. A relationship with Jesus invites us to experience an abundant life, filled with purpose. The invitation of Jesus to believe in him offers the gift of life eternal.
On Sunday mornings, as we gather to worship God, it is our hope as a congregation to put front and centre the invitation of Jesus, that others will come to know Him, as their friend and Savior.
You are invited to join us on Sundays at 10:30 a.m.!
Blessings
Rev. Milton Fraser

Back from Holidays
There is the old saying that it is good to get away, but it is always nice to get home. I enjoyed four weeks holiday, two weeks spent at home here in Arnprior, and the rest of the time on our annual visit to Nova Scotia. The holidays were great, but it is nice to get back to work, doing some visiting and making some contact by phone and email, with the congregation this week. The lives of our church family, continues to know the joys and sorrows of life. Thankfully we have each other to stand with in these times, and we have the comfort of knowing that God is with us always.
As we enjoy our Canadian summer, we are also mindful of the worst humanitarian disaster in the world.
Your prayers and financial gifts are needed to help bring desperately needed relief to the people of Eastern Africa as they suffer from the worst drought to hit the region in 60 years. PWS&D is responding to this crisis situation in partnership with Canadian Foodgrains Bank, the ACT Alliance and Canadian Churches in Action.
The World Food Programme estimates over 10 million people in Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti, Uganda and Sudan will now require food assistance following two years of prolonged drought. The lack of rains has damaged crops, dried up existing sources of water and led to higher grain prices.
Please pray for the people of East African countries during this time of great need. Your financial support will ensure vulnerable people receive life-saving food in order to survive this difficult time. You can make a donation through our church. Please mark all donations as “East African Relief.”
This Sunday August 21st, we will conclude the Summer Sermon Series, Words to Live By, as we hear some of the words of scripture that folks from the congregation have offered as being meaningful to them, as well as sing some hymns of praise.
As well, I am looking ahead to the fall and the programs and ministry we will offer at St. Andrew’s.
This weekend, our friends from L’Arche Arnprior are holding their fourth Annual Family Fun Run/Walk. It begins Saturday morning August 20th, with registration at 9 a.m. It is a fun time, and great way to support the local L’Arche Community. The walk/run begins at the McLean Avenue Park, and concludes with a BBQ.
Hope to see you this Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
Blessings

Palms and Passion
Palm Sunday April 17th at 10:30 a.m. This Sunday is the day of hosannas and praise, and also the day of our Lord’s passion. We worship Jesus as the King of Kings, and the Suffering Christ. The readings for today tell of the victorious entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, and of Jesus’ journey to the cross. Matthew 21: 1-11, Matthew 26:14-27:66
Maundy Thursday Communion Service
Maundy Thursday April 21st at 7 p.m. is the day set aside to remember Jesus’ last meal with his disciples. We will gather to remember Jesus the Servant King, who was willing to humble himself, and give his life for our salvation. We will remember him as we share the bread and the cup.
Good Friday Fellowship Breakfast and Worship
Friday April 22nd at 10:00 a.m. We gather before the cross, to remember and ponder what Jesus has done for us. What would you say, if you were asked what the message of the cross is for you? Once again, we will say thank you for the cross. A fellowship breakfast hosted by the Session begins at 8 a.m.
Easter Sunday Worship
Easter Sunday April 24th at 10:30 a.m. Christ is Risen! Hallelujah! We join in praise and worship of Jesus, who is Resurrection and Life. Because He lives we too shall live. What does abundant life look like for you? The Good News is that it is available to us through the risen Jesus.
