Our Continued Mission with Malawi

Our Malawi Mission Team spent two weeks in July 2010 in Malawi worshipping and working with, and learning from the wonderful people of Malawi.  We know first hand why Malawi is called “the warm heart of Africa”!  One of the ministries that we were involved in during our visit was volunteering at two Orphan & Vulnerable Children (OVC) Centres in the Blantyre Synod.  We were touched by the life-changing work that was going on through this ministry and it became clear that there were great needs in order to continue to develop the ministry.  Upon return, two members from our team donated funds to purchase new land for one of the centres because their lease was up.  Funds have now been raised to build a new OVC in Tadala and in 2011 St. Andrew’s Coldwater is raising additional funds to furnish the Centre, to provide food for the children, educational resources and training for the teachers.  Please contact the church if you feel called to support this important cause!

Malawi Mission Team Commissioning 2

The Malawi Mission Team

On July 2nd, 2010, ten representatives of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Coldwater will experience first hand this Mission Statement. Lecia Fagan, Ruth Hamel, Rev. Courtney Morris, Karen Lye, Norma and Len Linton, Jessica and Connor Linton, and Lindsey and Ian Hepburn-Aley are flying to Malawi, Africa on a mission trip. The group will participate in and observe a variety of exciting programs including disabled children’s programs, livelihood programs, orphanages, Christian mission hospitals and much more. While the Presbyterian Church in Canada is leading and administrating our trip, each participant is responsible for the cost of the journey.

The focus of our mission team is to provide financially to the African people and in doing so, we seek your assistance to make this a reality.  Our team is avidly fundraising through various events including an African Auction Dinner and a golf tournament. Our goal is to reach or exceed a $15,000.00 donation for the purposes of assisting with developing programs that address the following needs in Malawi: water and sanitation systems, care for Orphan and Vulnerable Children affected by HIV/AIDS, learning how to grow new crops for better nutrition and increased yield, and empowering people with disabilities.

To accomplish this, we encourage you to participate in the following fun and exciting events:
