About

The congregation of Presbyterians in Strathroy was formed in May of 1863 in response to a large number of Scots farmers who had settled in the area.  The church building that was erected in 1867 was pulled down in 1874 to make way for the current, much larger, structure, which was modified further at the turn of the 20th century with the addition of the balcony and improvements to the Lower Hall.  The rear portion of the building was constructed in 1964, and underwent a substantial renovation in 2004.

Through all of these changes, as well as periods of feast and famine in the Strathroy area, the congregation has striven to keep their focus on people, and on God.  We seek to serve each other, and are at our best when we are doing so, wherever and whenever the opportunities arise in our lives.

Rev. Steve Boose is the 16th minister of the Strathroy congregation and has been with us since 2003. During his time in the congregation, a number of mission initiatives have been supported, including a trip to Mississippi in 2007 to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina. A close connection with the Salvation Army in town includes an annual food-and-fundraiser event, and for the past three years a team has walked in the Relay for Life for Cancer Research every June. We seek to be God’s people, living together in God’s world with God’s love and grace between us.

Please come join us, and be part of whatever tomorrow may bring to us!
