About

As Presbyterians, “we rely on the power of the Holy Spirit, we proclaim the love and good news of Jesus Christ through our words and actions. As a reformed church, we rely on the truth and inspiration of Scriptures for God’s guidance into the future – a future that we approach with wonder and anticipation, knowing God is with us. As worshiping communities joyfully celebrating the sacraments, we are supported, strengthened and equipped to share the love of God revealed in Jesus Christ”, (from the PCC website).

Our Mission Statement: To know Christ through worship, and to make Him known in our Christian
Family, in our community and in the world beyond, by the love we give to Him and to others.

History:The Schomberg Emmanuel Presbyterian Church has a rich history. The original congregation was first organized in 1891 at Monkman’s Church, 3 ½ miles northwest of Schomberg. The congregation worshiped at Monkman’s church in the summer and the Temperance Hall in the winter. After a series of meetings to find a permanent location of worship; it was decided to purchase the Baptist church on Main Street, which is our present day church.
The first Presbyterian service was held in June, 1907and the first communion was held in 1908.
Since its inception, Emmanuel Presbyterian Church has experienced a number of challenges, but the congregation always responded in faith and has maintained a continuing Christian presence in Schomberg.
