Ties with Gravel Hill
The Monkland congregation grew out of the Gravel Hill congregation. For years, the two churches shared a minister. At times, each congregation was large enough to hold its own services. At other times, the two alternated, worshipping at Gravel Hill one week, and at Monkland the next.
But demographics changed and so too was the viability of each congregation. In 1998, the two congregations merged. St. Andrew’s, Monkland closed its doors and the building was sold.
But the new, merged congregation, now known as St. James’-St. Andrew’s, Gravel Hill, continues.
