History of Nine Mile Creek Presbyterian Church

In 1882 when the Scottish settlers arrived on PEI they took steps to start a church and the present church building was opened for worship service in 1893.  The church became part of the great following of the Church of Scotland until the late 1930’s when it became part of the Presbyterian Church In Canada and a preaching point in the Central Parish Pastoral Charge.
From 1951 until October 2006 the congregation was part of the regular ministry in the four point charge of Central Parish.  In 2006 the Presbytery of PEI made the Nine Mile Creek Presbyterian Church, PEI, a single charge.
At that time Dr. Gordon Matheson was appointed Interim Moderator by the Presbytery of PEI and he continued to minister until January 2021.
