2019 Events

We held three major events in 2019.

Winterlude 2019 posterWinterlude 2019 -Working with Restoring Hope Ministries (February)

Over 30 youth and 15 youth leaders came to our Winterlude event. After a few ice breakers and opening talk, they came together to learn more about homeless youth in Ottawa and what Restoring Hope Ministries is doing to help.

We had games, videos, and lots of discussion as youth explored what could lead people to leave home and end up on the street. Where would they sleep? Where would they be safe? Where could they keep their possessions safe?  Our Bible text was Matthew 25:31-40.  After some discussion, it was time to cook, and take the food over to First Baptist Church where Restoring Hope Ministries operates out of.

Thanks to Knox, Ottawa for hosting us. Thanks to the leaders who worked so hard to make the event a success. Thanks to many leaders who came with their youth. We’re really blessed to have such great youth.

Over 20 people attended our workshop for Christian Educators & Youth Leaders. Samples of different curricula (curriculums?) were there for people to look through, and Emily Hill, the Education Program Coordinator from National Office and workshop facilitator, talked about them in her presentation, but curricula weren’t the main focus of the workshop. Most of the workshop focused on how important the people themselves were in shaping young people’s faith.

Thanks to Emily Hill for leading the workshop, and to St., Andrew’s, Stittsville for hosting.

St. Stephen’s Hallowe’en Event (October)

The theme was putting on the armour of God. An opening activity tested an orange’s “armour” -would it float no matter what?

Then, time for fun and learning. The youth certainly enjoyed themselves!
