Needless to say the pandemic with its lockdowns and social restrictions put a halt to our usual activities. Even so, we were able to hold a few events:
Winterlude 2020 – What Direction Are You Going? (February)
Our Winterlude theme this year was looking at different directions in life, and was led by Patrick Wilmot, the Child and Youth Healthy Living Coordinator at Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health.
There were ice breakers, story-telling, and working on a medicine wheel in four directions to pass on select teachings to others while trying to coordinate moving planks as a team! Afterwards, time for food and a blurb from Claire about Gracefield-summer camps-CY2020, closing worship and clean-up.
Thanks to all who made it a success – to Patrick for leading us, to Knox (Ottawa) for hosting us, to Joan, Meg, and Maureen for their leadership, to Claire for telling us more about Gracefield’s programs and to all the youth who made this a fun time for all!

Leading with Care 2020 via Zoom (Spring & Fall)
Barrhaven Presbyterian Church held a virtual Leading with Care workshop in the spring while Westminster Presbyterian Church held a similar virtual training event in September.
The virtual version is split into two sessions, and includes tips for online situations. If you are interested in holding a Leading with Care workshop (either virtually or in person), contact Rev. Cheryl.
Town Halls (Monthly)
These more or less monthly virtual get-togethers for youth leaders and Sunday School teachers provided opportunities for people to share what they are doing and where their frustrations are, and have a chance to gain new skills.
We’ve invited people to give us tips on using Zoom, and have held fun sessions on using different play programs – e.g., Kahoot, Mentimeter, and TriviaMaker.
The most important part of the meetings are just being there for one another! (We have since changed the label to “Coffee Houses” gatherings.)
