In June Guthrie Presbyterian Church organizes an Art Exhibition on Biblical Stories and Themes of Faith.
We will be exhibiting around 30 pieces of art in the sanctuary of the church. Ranging from oil paintings on canvas, works on paper, wood and stone sculptures to ceramics.
These artworks are from private collections; it is existing art from the seventeenth century to contemporary works, with some copies of older works included.
The artists are or were professional artists, with a few more well known as Auguste Rodin and Salvador Dali.
Each artwork will have an explanation for the visitor, stating the artist, origin and subject of the piece.
We will be giving tours to groups to explain the different items. Tours are available in both English and French.
The Church will be open on every Wednesday and Sunday Afternoon from 1 to 5 pm. (Admittance until 4 pm.). Groups are welcome on appointment on different days too.
Our church is equipped with a stairlift, and most of the artworks can be reached with a wheelchair. Groups are welcomed with coffee and tea. Children are very much welcome too.
We do this to share the Biblical Stories with the public and we hope this will also benefit the community of Alvinston with visitors coming to the town.
