The 61 people, from the Presbytery of Hamilton were invited to help themselves to a buffet of with eggs benedict, potatoes, bacon, sausage, toast and fruit.

Following the meal, the Rev. Harry Mc Williams led us in a devotional entitled Ears to Hear. Challenging us to obey the words of Christ and in so obeying, give Him our will, mind, heart, and all in service to His command.

The pastor of Central Presbyterian Church Hamilton, Rev. Dr. Clyde Ervine, gave an animated introduction of the speaker, Rev. John Congram. He noted especially John’s aptitude as a master story teller.

Rev. John Congram, the former editor of the Record and moderator of the 123rd General Assembly, did not disappoint in his delivery of the Keynote Address. “In a reflective mood, John encouraged us to learn to see signs of God (theophany) in everyday experience, doing so by himself thinking on how the faith practices of his parents and grandparents affected him as a child, or, in witnessing the earnest honesty and courage of those who were persecuted by the Communist regimes of Eastern Europe; a most heart warming message from a veteran story-teller.”
