Thursday, November 7, 2013 — Morning Reflection

I am sure that many of you have experienced Taize as a powerful form of musical meditation and prayer. If not, go to http://www.taize.fr/en to discover more.

My own musical tastes and somewhat distracted nature often makes this music and prayer form a challenge for me. A number of years ago, while in seminary at San Francisco Theological Seminary, I came in contact with Stephen Iverson. His song, Surely God is in This Place, has been one that I hum and sing at the start of my day. Unfortunately, I do not have a recording and there is none available except for purchase. I commend this to your prayer life, to your day, and to wherever it is you walk. Perhaps you will have to write your own music!

About Gail Doering

Gail Doering grew up in Kansas, moved to California at age 20, married twice, had two children in the second marriage, and had a high tech career in Silicon Valley. And then … “God came a-knockin’ with such a force that She could not be ignored.” She graduated from San Francisco Theological Seminary in 2001 at age 42. Since then she has served with four churches, all of them in the Bay Area. This reflection is from CASA: An Experiment in Doing Church Online.
