Friday, January 17, 2014 — A Praying Community

CASA is a praying community. Like the first ecclesial communities, we are joined together constantly in prayer (Acts 1:14). One Christian understanding of prayer is that it is performed as a communal expression of our covenant with a God whose mercies “never come to an end” and whose faithfulness “is new every morning” (Lamentations 3: 22-23).

The first Christian communities sought the power of the Holy Spirit as they longed for Jesus and the promised “kingdom of God.”

Like Paul and Silas who prayed and sang hymns well into the night (Acts 16:25), let us remember the Beloved by repeating the words: Come Holy Spirit (Veni Sancte Spiritus) .
