“By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” Genesis 3:19

I found this passage especially powerful on Ash Wednesday last week. A few years ago I was reading an article called “Taking Ash Wednesday Public.” Essentially in the article, this young minister questions why Ash Wednesday is always held in the evening where most people go to church, then head straight home (usually) and wash the ashes off. So she decides to hold a full day of prayer at Starbucks! Talk about living your faith in the “real world.” I personally found this article so refreshing and so creative! It was a great way to live faith outloud, and to proclaim God’s name without all the proclamation! It may be so hard at time to step out of our comfort zone especially when talking and living our faith, but it could be that moment where someone is touched by God! Lent is such a powerful day to reflect on our own lives, and to look to the future days during lent.

Prayer:
Dear God,

Thank you for all Your mighty creations from the dust of the earth,
and by Your spirit we have been renewed.

Thank you for all Your beautiful creations,
Please walk along side as we journey through a world that may test our faith at times,
but we know that we have an almighty guardian and friend who is with us forever and always,

In Jesus name,
Amen!
