Thursday, April 10, 2014 — Thank You

“If the only prayer you said was thank you, that would be enough.”
― Meister Eckhart

It sounds so simple. Simple, but as with Naomi, not always easy.

When we’re in the midst of depression, or dealing with grief, thank you is often the last prayer to come to mind. When we’re frustrated and yelling at the driver in the car ahead of us, thank you is not the prayer on our lips… When we’re given another work assignment when we can barely keep up with the ones we already have, gratitude does not come easily.

Question: What brings YOU back to a space of gratitude? Is it prayer? Time in nature? Time spent with family? Do you cultivate gratitude? Or does it catch you by surprise?

Prayer: Holy One, thank you. For all that we are, and all that we have, thank you. Help us to make time for the people and practices that awaken our gratitude and bring us joy. Amen.
