Which is real–the bacon and toast with your coffee
Or your grandmother’s voice
Explaining snapdragons and tigerlilies to your young self
on an August day
half a century later?which is real
The grey wrinkles of care that line the hand you held as breath left and chest rested
In the bed beside you after decades of “see you in the morning”. We make our home
In memories and moments.
Some do the dishes.
Some keep us company in an old song we remember
And sing in the garden with the lilies.
