Saturday, July 12, 2014 — I Lift Up My Eyes

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip…” (Ps. 121:1-3)

We have several hiking trails criss-crossing the mountains, and this picture comes from one of the easily accessible trails, the walk to Bad Branch Falls. (It’s about a mile (1-1/2km) hike over rough and rugged terrain but the falls at the end are worth it.) Living in these mountains, sometimes the paths are slippery, literally and figuratively.

I started the week with the psalms of ascent and want to end there, too. This one a powerful word of God’s care and concern for us, never sleeping, always with us, so much so that our feet can’t slip without God assisting. A comforting thought to think that God is always with us, keeping us from harm, watching over our days, offering a hand when we slip.

Wishing God’s blessings on your day.
