Thursday, July 17, 2014 — Waves of Prayer

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words. ( Rom 8:26 NRSV)

De la misma manera, también el Espíritu nos ayuda en nuestra debilidad. No sabemos orar como debiéramos, pero el Espíritu mismo intercede por nosotros con gemidos indecibles. (Rom 8:26 NBLH)

I was born in the South Pacific in a country of 7.000+ islands. I know the primal rhythm of the Ocean, the mother of life. Maybe that explains my kinship with water.

And as I explore the practice of daily prayer, I notice how it flows and how it comes in waves. I watch my thoughts come and go. I feel my body rising and falling with each deep breath. And “deep calls unto deep” (Ps 42:7).

This morning I am hearing “I will carry you” (Isa. 46:4) as I go about my daily tasks. Would you join me then in a hymn of praise to the faithfulness that carries us all. Gracias!

Tu fidelidad es grande
Tu fidelidad incomparable es
Nadie es como tu
Bendito Dios
Grande es tu fidelidad.
