Monday, July 21, 2014 — Celebrate and Consider the Care of Creation

Genesis 1:28:
God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”

The liturgical Season after Pentecost or Ordinary Time is the time in which we think about and celebrate and consider the care of God’s creation. In Canada, summer is a special time to get out and about and commune with God in nature. Thanks be to God.

Gracious God: We thank you for the changing of the seasons and for a time to plant and a time for the harvest. We thank you for the sunshine which warms the seeds and the rains which water the earth and allows the seeds to grow. Help us to always remember that “dominion over” really means responsibility to care for all of Your creation. Amen
