Thursday, July 24, 2014 — I am of Small Account

Job 40: 3-5 Then Job answered the LORD:
“See, I am of small account; what shall I answer you?
I lay my hand on my mouth.
I have spoken once, and I will not answer;
twice, but will proceed no further.”

Sometimes pain and suffering come as the consequences of one’s own sin. Much too often, however, pain and suffering come as the result of the sins of the powerful or from the plain brokenness of the world. It is important to remember that pain and suffering are never God’s will. Rather they are God’s call to God’s people to work toward healing and reconciliation wherever we are able

Loving God: We thank you for all the gifts that we enjoy and sometimes take for granted. Gifts of food and fellowship, gifts of power and authority, gifts of safety and comfort. Help us to be healers in the world in whatever way we can, even if it is only to pray for others. Amen
