Thursday, December 4, 2014 — He’s Got the Whole World

A favourite children’s hymn used to be: He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands. Today, let us think about that and about what it can mean. Let us also remember that God said to his children: I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.

Dear Lord, there are times when I feel so alone,
Times when I am conscious only of your absence from me
Times when I think that you have left me
When I cry out, with Jesus,
My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?

It is at those times that you actually closest to me
It is at those times that you hear my authentic voice
It is at those times that I am most in need of you

Help me to realize that, no matter how far away you seem
You are always with me
Help me to realize that, no matter how deserted I feel
You will never leave me hopeless
Help me to know that, always,
I am your beloved child and that you surround me with your love.

As you start today, listen to this beautiful hymn, and know that God is with you.
