New Year – Renewed Focus – the Gift of Epiphany

Aaaah,  a new year.  In our community,  people are making new year’s resolutions.   People make a list of things they would like to change or add or challenge to their lives.    This year our congregation,  St Andrew’s  Brandon,  is creating a challenge.   Together, we are reading the Canadian Bible Society Daily Scripture Readings.   Most of the congregation is not online,   so we’ve created a booklet with the Daily Scripture readings as well as adding weekly prayers and prayers for special occasions.    Last week the congregation took home the booklet and began reading the Scriptures.      It is so important, no matter what age, to read the Scriptures daily.

Today we remember the Wise Men that came to worship Jesus… and brought gifts.    Being able to read the Bible daily is our  gift to our Lord Jesus Christ.   How neat.

Prayer:       Almighty and Unchanging God,  You are the Beginning and the end of all things.  Grant us to faithfully journey through this new year,  always relying upon You.  Keep us ever faithful in the reading of scriptures,  in prayer,  in worship,  and in serving You.    Great God,  it is through a star shining brightly in the dark that wisemen came to kneel and worship Your Son,  our Lord.  This day,   mercifully grant that we too may follow the light of Your truth revealed in Christ that we may attain at last to the vision of Your glory in heaven.  Through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.
