Five young men, their families and other supporters raised $2,367.80 to fund clean well water projects in Kenya and Malawi through Presbyterian World Service & Development. Together brothers Jesse, Jacob, Seth and Isaac Steward along with friend Lyndon Froese are “Wittenberg”, a contemporary Christian band from Williams Lake, B.C. In what became known as the “Concert with a Cause” they performed a wide selection of worship and other songs. Several were their own compositions and are on their 2009 CD “To Whom it May Concern”. The concert took place on Tuesday, June 23 at Cariboo Bethel Church in Williams Lake and was attended by about 180 people. The Steward brothers and their families attend the Springhouse-Williams Lake House Church which is affiliated with the Cariboo House Church Ministry. Some may have seen three of the brothers (Jesse, Jacob and Seth) on TV since they work for Pioneer Log Homes in Williams Lake and have appeared on “Timber Kings,” a show about the company’s log building work. In fact the concert was being filmed for a future episode.
