Letter to the Editor: Re Speaking Truth in Love, by M.J. Wilkinson

I want to commend Rev. Dr. Kevin Livingston and Rev. Karla Wubbenhorst for their stand in support of biblical human sexuality. I have read the scripts of all the speakers listed in the March Record. It grieves me that the PCC would seriously consider adjusting our doctrine to reflect cultural pressure. Who are we afraid of? In 1 Corinthians 6:10-11 Paul lists those who practice homosexuality, among other sins that none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. Then he says, “Some of you were once like that, but you were cleansed; you were made Holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.“

Here is the mention of repentance for sins. Nowhere in the dialogue or scripts of the speakers is there a mention that homosexuals need to continue in such bondage. Christ can set them free if they want it. I wish to draw to your attention the name of Rosaria Butterfield who spent 10 years as a practising lesbian and after a period over two years came to realize that lesbianism was a sin, offensive to God, and experienced a marvellous release from such a lifestyle. Her story is on YouTube and has several websites telling her story. I would urge the readers to look up her accounts as I feel she provides the missing link to the storm which has hit the PCC.

If General Assembly votes in favour of changing our doctrine in favour of recognizing homosexuality I for one will no longer be worshipping with the PCC.
