My Daughter’s Dad

Just a photo in a frame.
Is all I see today
But when I close my eyes
A million memories come my way.
Tender moments, filled with love
Anxious moments, sent above
Angry moments, making up
Laughing moments, fill my cup.
Babies bouncing on your knee
As you laugh and smile at me.
Car rides, sleigh rides, skates and skis.
Daughters always at your knees.
Hugs, no spankings … just a frown
A sharp word “no rides to town.”
All grown up, you walk the aisle
With your daughters, oh the smile!
Grandbabies come, it starts again
The cycle doesn’t want to end
But time has flown, Goodbye’s are said.
All these memories fill my head
Of laughter, love and what we had
….my lover, friend, my daughters’ Dad.
