Kay Mischinger (right), an elder emeritus at Central, turned 90 in January. The celebration was especially joyful for Dr. Clyde Ervine (left), Central’s minister, who helped to eat Kay’s birthday cake—but only after he had been weighed. On doctor’s orders, Dr. Ervine lost 24 pounds in three months and, thanks to sponsors within the church, raised $8000 in the process. The money will be shared between Central’s budget and Presbyterians Sharing.
