Sunday, November 3, 2013 — Morning Reflection

Prayer can be many things: a journey, a conversation, a transformation , a revelation, a blessing, a gift. During worship, I sometimes speak of it as “the gift of God for the people of God”. My experience of prayer is that it is an invitation that is always there. I can recognize it (or not). I can embrace it or turn my back on it. I can walk in it or walk away from it, if I so choose. Or I can risk it, and open myself to a lifetime of seeking with a Love that will not let me go.

I have found that prayer roots me firmly in the life of the Spirit that is in Jesus, in us and in people of other faiths. Prayer can become our CASA, the place where we live, our home and our “oikos” (Ephesians 2:19), the household of Life where we dwell and become blessing “for all the families of the earth”.(Gen 12:3)

May Spirit pray us all into life today.

Today on the eve of a feast in my home country called “Todos Los Santos” I am listening to the socio-political implications of the conversation between Miriam of Nazareth who goes to the hill country of Ain Karim (The Spring of the Vineyard) near Jerusalem, to visit with Elizheva, mother of John the Baptizer.
