Monday, December 30, 2013 — Find Time for God

The peace of Christmas is over, and we are preparing for the new year. But even in the midst of everyday busy-ness, may we always find time for God. Sit, have a cup of tea, breathe. I offer this prayer from the Iona Community, written by Yvonne Morland, to remind us that what seems to be something interfering with our work may actually be something to connect us with God.

Places of rest and refreshment are found
sometimes where we least expect them.
In the midst of the chaos of life
when we’re too burdened to lift our heads.

God may throw a stone in our path
over which we stumble upon with new vision:
O God, help us to see these stones
as objects of blessing, not of cursing.

Guide our steps through the doors
where a welcome and shared bread await,
and help us provide such refreshment
for others you place in our lives.
