Friday, March 14, 2014 — Armor of God

Ephesians 6:14-17 (NLT):

Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

I always loved this passage! As followers of Christ, we can do anything by preparing ourselves with the proper gear! This passage reminds me a bit about sports. Sports invoke a passion in people that is unparalleled to any other. Once a player puts on that jersey and gear, or a die hard fan puts on the jersey, they are prepared for the game! We can prepare ourselves in the same way by putting on all the armour of God as talked about in Ephisians!

God, be with us as we put on the belt of armour, the body armour of Your righteousness, the shoes that contain the peace of the Good News.

Strengthen us as we hold up the shield of faith, put on the helmet of salvation, and take the sword of the Spirit!

God prepare us inside and out for the wonderful journey that lies ahead.

Amen
