Wednesday, July 9, 2014 — Burst into Song

“the mountains and the hills will burst into song before you…” (Isaiah 55:12)

Another picture from Pine Mountain, this one taken last fall. I love the pockets of clouds. All the seasons here have their own beauty, but I’m partial to autumn. One of the surprises living here is the breadth and depth of musical talent all around. It seems like everyone has a “banjo on the knee,” and everyone sings a folk song or two. Something about the mountains makes one want to sing.

Here are words to a wonderful hymn, written by Henry van Dyke: “All thy works with joy surround thee; earth and heaven reflect thy rays; stars and angels sing around thee, center of unbroken praise. Field and forest, vale and mountain, flowery meadow, flashing sea, chanting bird and flowing fountain, call us to rejoice in thee.”

May you have a song in your heart this day.
