Sunday, July 13, 2014 — Fruit of Righteousness

“May the mountains bring prosperity to the people, the hills the fruit of righteousness.” (Ps. 72:3)

Preparing for morning worship. Our church congregation is small, about 50 or 60 worshipers most weeks. I describe church as “family reunion.” It’s the time when the family celebrates and renews its bonds. This week, as every first Sunday of the month, will be communion Sunday. It’s the best celebration. Around Christ’s table, we’ll share the “fruits of righteousness.”

Two pictures to share with you, one of the inside and one of the outside of the church. The structure was built in the 1930s and folks are quite proud of their space. The stones come from the mountains nearby, and Italian stonemasons built the church. (The history of the Italian stonemasons is interesting. In the early 1900s, they had come from Italy to work in the coal mines. They brought with them their incredible skill at stonemasonry. Eastern Kentucky has several buildings and bridges dating to this period, and our church is one of them.)

God’s blessings on your Sabbath day.
