Friday, August 29, 2014 — Sunset

I saw the sun setting. It was a huge orange-red fireball, illuminating a few wispy clouds above it. It was an incredibly beautiful view. I thought about how fleeting sunsets are, but also how often God paints the sky in marvelous colours, different every time. Let us pray:

God of creation, we thank you for the beauty of all that you have created, especially sunsets that paint the sky for your amusement and our enjoyment. Please keep our eyes open to all of the spectacular beauty that you have created and continue to create. As sunset fades to darkness, O God, keep us safe beneath your almighty wings. Grant rest and peace to your world for tonight, and a sunrise to begin tomorrow. May God bless you all tonight. In the name of our saviour, Jesus Christ, amen.
