Saturday: A Piece of Creation

Today in this corner of the world the sun is shining brightly….amen.

Under the suns rays I close my eyes and soak in the warmth, the miracle of the sun…that God put it close enough to give us warmth….but not so close as to consume the earth with its fire…everyday it’s there…another thing that I forget to be thankful for…but thinking of it brings gratitude and awe…

In the darkness of my eyelids I find myself embracing a piece of creation….and in it appreciating this great whole to which we belong…a series of interdependent things…all that is around grounded by the force of gravity…wow…this is God’s wondrous world.

God, give us the “Awe” of children. Teach us to wonder and open up our adult vision….to the imagination of a child…the kind it takes to really be open to the incredible story of creation…as it tells itself to us in every breath we take. In this prayer, for these breaths we take in witness to you….we breathe gratitude. Help us to remember we are a small but important part of a larger unity…direct us with your spirit to find ourselves in finding we are a part of everything else. Amen.
