WARM FEET – HAPPY SOULS

It is a known fact that many people who avail of various outreach services in St. John’s, particularly in the downtown area, do not have access to clean, new socks. If your shoes or boots are worn or leaking, could there be anything more comfortable, or comforting, than dry socks? So, St. David’s Auxiliary of the Atlantic Mission Society (AMS) undertook a project to help ease the situation over the coming winter months.

We called it “Warm Feet – Happy Souls” and we collected NEW socks!

To draw attention to the project, and to encourage people to participate, we placed a collapsible clothesline in the Sanctuary of St. David’s, and each week socks were donated, and hung on the tree, with fantastic results. Can you believe we collected 251 pairs of socks in seven (7) Sundays. There were –men’s, women’s, children’s socks – all sizes, styles and colours!

Such a simple project – such a fabulous result!
