God’s people have long held that these ancient writings are paramount; they somehow speak with illuminating power into our modern lives. Like a torch flaming brightly in a dark dank room.
But why? And how?
In this video I introduce a document I put together called “Alive and Powerful – Understanding the Bible” which is an aid for those wishing to better understand the Bible’s authority, and for those wishing to study and interpret it. In it I give some high-level background and also suggest some practical tools for how to interpret.

Life is a voyage. Christopher Columbus said, “You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.” So when you’re kingdom-bound out there as the courageous crew in the sea and wind, it’s best to have a good map of the Way. As St. Jerome said, “Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ.” That’s the Way.
