World Leaders to gather for Climate Change in November 2015

The United Nations expects to finally achieve some legally binding universal agreements on climate change during a conference in Paris this December. This will be the 21st United Nations Climate Change Conference.

Previous conferences have managed pledges that are not binding; like the one in Kyoto. The chair of the UN’s Convention on Climate Change has said, “The current pledges … are clearly not enough to guarantee that the temperature will stay below 2 degrees C and there is an ever increasing gap between the action of countries and what the science tells us.”

Amongst other items on the agenda will be the differing standards necessary for developing and developed countries. This will be one of the largest-ever international gatherings on climate change.
