Baptisms for everyone

ENI — Eleven German denominations, including Protestant, Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox and Anglican churches, have formally recognized each other's baptism, in German.
Baptism is a “powerful bond of Christian unity,” said Bishop Wolfgang Huber of the Evangelical Church in Germany. Baptism is a religious ceremony performed with water and is acknowledged in the Christian world to be a commandment of Jesus and the fundamental rite of initiation into the Church. In Germany there are already some regional agreements on baptism but this is the first formal agreement at a national level.
