Walter Grant is seen, on the first of three days, digging at packed ice about a foot deep. The drain hole is located near the entrance (to the left of picture) of Sedgwick Memorial, Tatamagouche, N.S., where Rev. Mary Anne Grant usually parks her car. The cold-mild-cold temperatures of the past winter made for ice-covered driveways and lawns. Walking has been treacherous for everyone, especially getting out of vehicles and into church.
This year, there is a tender out for the repair and paving of the main street in Tatamagouche. However, the water draining from higher up on the lawn beside Sedgwick Memorial has to be fixed, as that is where all the water, that eventually freezes, drains down.
