Repent!

Re Coming Alive in Lent, Renewal, February

I so agree with bringing back the idea of repentance in churches. We have gotten away from this and only seem to preach about an all-loving God, the crucifixion and forgiveness, but our part of the contract is hardly ever mentioned. There is no talk about our responsibility of repentance and obeisance. It is very unpopular today but very dangerous not to preach about the repentance of sin which we do every day in some form or another.

I am Presbyterian and attend Elmvale, Ont., but joined a Messianic synagogue that does preach about sin, repentance, obeisance, God’s wrath, and what is expected from us as Christians for the death of Christ. I attend both, but the Presbyterian church leaves me hungry and thirsty. Too much storytelling about how wonderful God is. I find people also lose interest hearing about how wonderful God is, as they already know that.

Yes, it is true the majority does not want the responsibility of repentance, but it is the only way to truly walk with Christ.

Thanks again for that article.
