Cooke’s, Chilliwack, B.C.

Mrs. Margaret “May” Allen celebrated her 100 years of life on Saturday, July 3rd, 2010. She has been a member of Cooke’s, Chilliwack, B.C., for more than 75 years. May still knits Pneumonia prevention vests and in December of 2009, made pom-poms for 54 pairs of slippers. She assured the ladies in the knitting group that those she sewed on will never come off.

May is quite the historian when it comes to Chilliwack history or happenings in the Chilliwack, Greendale and Yarrow areas.

May was a school teacher for many years. She has one daughter, one grand daughter and two great grand children. In 1994, she was nominated as “Woman of the Year.” She is also associated with a number of other groups, including Chilliwack Historical Society, Chilliwack Riding Club and Ruth and Rebekah Lodge.

An open house for about 200 guests was held at the Masonic Lodge at which time a hundred pink roses were presented from Cooke’s Presbyterian Church, including the Knitting Bee and Senior’s Fellowship.

God’s richest blessings and our best wishes!
