Welcome

Welcome to Scottlea Presbyterian Church’s website. We’re glad you found us!

Scottlea is a young congregation of about 70 families and households representing a good cross-section of the St. Catharines community. Our members range in age from children to seniors. We normally gather for worship every Sunday morning at 10:30am and on special Christian holy days such as Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Church school and nursery are offered during the worship hour when children are present.

Scottlea officially became a congregation on January 12, 1960 when the Presbytery of Niagara approved the group meeting at Scottlea Public School to be a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. The Service of Erection was held at St. Giles Presbyterian church on February 14, 1960 with 29 people received into membership.

We celebrate our anniversary on the Sunday closest to the 18th of October as that was the day, in 1959, when about 70 adults and children met for the first Divine Service. We are in our 64th year!

On May 1, 1962 the Presbytery granted the congregation permission to commence its first building project. A new sanctuary was added in 1981 and dedicated on October 18th.  On March 18, 2007  we dedicated a small addition consisting of a hall, kitchen, washroom and office all on grade. On June 26, 2011 a new sound system and video-link to the hall were dedicated. We pray God’s blessing on further undertakings as we carry out our ministry.  Check out our groups and activities!
