Worship

One thing most important to our congregation is a sense of community, a community that cares about each other. And when that community gets together, there is usually food and fellowship and a sense of belonging. The Sunday morning worship is one of those times. But our life of worship goes beyond just Sunday services (10:30 A.M.). We hold Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Christmas Eve services. We get together with the churches of our North Middlesex ministerial to share a Christmas fellowship of music. We have our yearly Outdoor Worship and Congregational Picnic in the natural beauty of a nearby park. The youth lead us in the joy of spontaneity at their yearly Talent Shows, and those same youth lead us in worship services ranging from drama to a Christian Rock Band to traditional.

Communion is celebrated quarterly with the participation of our session.

Music is also a large and meaningful contribution to our services. Through their weekly anthems we are blessed to have a choir that shares with the congregation their musical offerings in significant ways. We mostly use The Book of Praise, although we also enjoy songs from Praise! Our Song and Hymns. We have a modern piano and a state of the art organ, both of which are used in our worship services.

Missions

Beechwood supports a variety of missions both locally and abroad. Our newly formed Mission Committee has eased the burden from the monthly Church School planning of Mission events. Although varied and changing from year to year, the church supports such missions as: Operation Christmas Child, Sleeping Children Around the World, PWS&D, as well as supporting the Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada with their World Day of Prayer, and The Leprosy Mission. Locally we aid the Women’s Rural Resource Centre in Strathroy by supporting a family at Christmas time and various clothing and food donations throughout the year, local Food Bank donations monthly, supporting a local family through a health crisis, supporting a local man through his addiction to alcohol and drugs, Koats for Kids. Our quilting group pieces together a large number of cuddle quilts for charities. We have yard and bake sales open to the community to support our youth and Tweens.

The mission changes yearly. In the past we have supported Jessie’s Journey, Strathroy Hospital, VON, Women’s Rural Resource Centre, Victim Services of Middlesex County, Childcan and others.

Come walk with us in hope, grace and fellowship.
