Gordon’s sermon title: Up to our waist in alligators!

The Rev. Gordon Timbers retired as the minister of Unionville Presbyterian Church in Unionville, Ontario, in 2014. That same year, he joined the PCC mission study tour to Israel and Palestine, in response to the invitation of the KAIROS Palestine document to “come and see”. In December, 2015 Gordon began a three-month placement with the Ecumenical Accompaniment Program in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI). The EAPPI, a program of the World Council of Churches, is based on the premise that both Israelis and Palestinians are affected by the occupation, violence and human rights abuses. An international presence of peace advocates helps diffuse the situation and creates an environment for engagement of both Israelis and Palestinians working together for peace and human dignity. Ecumenical Accompaniers place an emphasis on Advocacy initiatives when they return home.

Join us on Sunday, March 9 at 10:15 am for worship.

Sunday, February 23 is an exciting and eventful day for us at St. Andrew’s.

Firstly, we’ll be welcoming Fran and Rob van Vliet into membership at St. Andrew’s. We’re glad (and excited) that they’ve decided to join us.

Secondly, we’ll be welcoming three members of the Presbytery of Barrie to our worship service. Rev. Mitch Bucknam, Rev. Reg McMilland and Marlene Lambie will be here to conduct an “exit interview” at St. Andrew’s. It’s one of the things that the Presbytery does after a minister leaves a congregation, and with Pastor John’s retirement in December, it means it’s our turn! The team has already done an interview with John, and now it’s the congregation’s turn to reflect on the past 6+ years, and share those reflections with the team. This will take place after the service, during lunch.

Thirdly, we’re welcoming Rev. Reg McMillan back as our guest minister for the day.

Fourthly, it’s the last Sunday of the month, so we know what that means: SOUP & SANDWICH SUNDAY. Word around the Hawton-Snively kitchen is that you’ll likely be able to try chili, and/or Buffalo Chicken Soup and/or Butternut Squash and Pear Soup. There will also be a variety of as-yet-to-be-determined sandwiches.

We look forward to seeing everyone at 10:15 am on Sunday.
