A warm welcome to all who come to worship this Sunday. Please join us after worship for refreshments and conversation.
We welcome Eric Lee who will be leading worship this morning. Eric came to Toronto from Hong Kong about three years ago. He is graduating soon, finishing his final semester of Master of Divinity program at Knox College. He has served in St. Giles Kingsway Presbyterian Church as an intern pastor and an occasional preacher. Currently he is being re-certified as the candidate for ordination by East Toronto Presbytery. He is married to Iris, who is a medical research specialist.
The Youth Ministry Committee has committed to help young people participate in Canada Youth this summer. A bus is being organized to take participants to St. Catherines.
The Committee will also offer bursaries for the conference. What is needed from the congregation is the number of young people who plan to attend the conference. When the committee has numbers, the amount that can provide for each participant will be provided.
Contact any Elder if you are interested.
We now have permission to move forward with a search for a permanent, half-time minister. Praise be to God! Session is looking for a group of 6 to 7 people, representing a range of gender and age groups from our congregation. Do you feel called to be part of the Search committee? If so, please contact an Elder by June 24th.
Mission Moment
The theme of this year’s General Assembly is with Glad and Generous Hearts. This past year, a design team was established to work with the General Assembly Office to plan the 2018 event. Team member The Rev. Dr. Patricia Dutcher-Walls shares that “sitting through an Assembly can be both inspiring and tiring” so the team imagined ways to help accomplish the business of the Assembly, while creating more spaciousness of timing and a more humane schedule.” This includes mini-breaks, table discussion groups, and sessions that include visuals and sound to appeal to different learning modes. A consensus decision-making model will create a more inclusive process of discernment. When Presbyterians gather together with glad and generous hearts, much can be accomplished!
