Announcements 17-June-2018

A warm welcome to all who come to worship this Sunday. Please join us after worship for refreshments and conversation.

We welcome Rev Jim Newman who will be leading worship this morning.

Communion will be held on July 8th rather than July 1st which is on the Canada Day weekend. Many will be away and because of the holiday, the Canada Day Parade will force closure of Yonge Street from 8:30am to 11:00am south of Wellington.

We now have permission to move forward with a search for a permanent, half-time minister. Praise be to God! Session is looking for a group of 6 to 7 people, representing a range of gender and age groups from our congregation. Do you feel called to be part of the Search committee? If so, please contact an Elder by June 24th.

Mission Moment – A history of Canadian mission in Taiwan
History Matters! Gifts to Presbyterians Sharing support Louise Gamble as she works with our partner church, the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan, to transcribe and translate reports and correspondence of the Canadian North Formosa Mission. These documents are records of the development of the Christian Church in North Formosa from the point of view of its missionaries. It includes over 7,000 documents from 1868 to 1923. Louise works in partnership with her talented and dedicated Taiwanese colleague, Mr. James Chen. They are working on the third and final season (1915-1923), which documents events during WWI as well as issues such as Canadian church union and growing theological tensions in North America. When finished, this series will likely be over 1500 pages!
