Blessings Cupboard

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to residents of Hanwell and Fredericton for their continued support of our blessings cupboard, a community pantry.

For those unfamiliar with the blessings cupboard, the idea is that neighbours can take what they need (at no cost) and give what items they can share. Food and toiletries are the primary items, but we do have space for book exchanges too.

With economic uncertainties and rising costs, the blessings cupboard is getting used more often, and so we wanted to share a wish list item should you be interested in contributing. Items can be left in the cupboard, or if you see someone at the church, drop on in as we do have storage (Wednesday afternoons and evenings are a great indoor drop-off time).

Wish list:

– Boxed or canned foods (e.g., oatmeal, cereal, Mac and cheese, rice, side kicks, pasta, popcorn, coffee/tea, soups, dry milk, sugar, pudding/Jell-o mix, stuffing mix, boxes of mashed potatoes, cans of fruit/vegetables/meat/ravioli/spaghettios)

– Packaged snacks or food not requiring prep (e.g., granola bars, fruit snacks, juices, cookies, peanut butter, jam, bread)

– Toiletries – toothpaste, toothbrushes, facial tissue, soap, sunscreen, bandages, wipes/diapers, feminine hygiene products

– For young children – skip ropes, sidewalk chalk, art supplies

This time of year we do need to monitor the weather more closely as some food items do not withstand hotter temps.

Thank-you!
