2nd Hanwell Scouting

2nd Hanwell Scouting Group at St. James

For many years, St. James Presbyterian Church has been home to the 2nd Hanwell Scouting Group, providing a welcoming space for their meetings and activities. From September 1 to August 31, youth aged 5 to 17 gather at the church to develop skills, build friendships, and engage in hands-on learning that fosters leadership, teamwork, and community service.

Meeting Schedule:

  • Scouts & Ventures (ages 11-17) – Mondays, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  • Beavers (ages 5-7) – Thursdays, 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
  • Cubs (ages 8-10) – Thursdays, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM

As part of our ongoing partnership, we also support the Scouts’ bottle drop-off program, with bins in our parking lotwhere community members can donate refundable bottles. Proceeds from these donations directly fund Scouting programs, helping youth take part in adventures and learning opportunities.

Rachel, St. James’ pastoral pup, is a great fan of the Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts and is happy to show off her Scouting neckerchief!

We also collaborate on special events, such as Baden-Powell Sunday and community breakfasts, strengthening the bonds between our church and the Scouting family.

This past Christmas, the 2nd Hanwell Scouting Group found and decorated a tree in our garden’s gazebo, bringing festive cheer to the community and making our church grounds a welcoming place during the holiday season. Thank you so much!
