Giving in Support of the Ministries of St. James:
in the overflowing love of Jesus Christ,
in the never-ending gift of the Holy Spirit.
In our faith, we believe that everything we have is a gift from God, and our offerings are a way of acknowledging God as the giver, celebrating God’s generosity, and supporting Christ’s ministry in the world today. It is a way of connecting our love for God with a life of discipleship.
Giving is more than monetary donations. We can give of our time, presence, possessions, talents, and concern for others.Through your generosity, we can provide worship and hospitality, care for one another, help those in need in this community and in the world, and encourage one another to grow in their faith journey.
If you would like to offer a monetary gift in support of the ministry carried out by St. James, there are a number of ways to do so:
By cheque or cash: Cash or cheques can be set in the offering plate during in-person worship, or they can be mailed or dropped off at the church office (simply contact us to arrange a drop-off time or place in the mailbox by the church entrance). Cheques can be made payable to “St. James Presbyterian Church”. If you are giving regularly please ask for envelopes, so your gifts can be receipted at the end of the year.
PAR (Pre-Authorized Remittance): PAR is a great way to give consistently. It is a direct debit program that allows individuals to support the church’s ministries through an automatic monthly withdrawal from their bank account. It’s easy to set up and you don’t have to worry about it again unless you wish to make changes. Income tax receipts will be issued in the same manner as regular cheque/cash givings. Note, you may still use offering envelopes (or a plain envelope) indicating your name and/or envelope number to make an extra offering for special occasions or appeals. The attached brochure contains an authorization form. Completed forms can be e-mailed to, or dropped off at, St. James.
e-Transfers: E-transfers can be sent to [email protected]. (Please email us the security answer separately.)
Canada Helps: Canada Helps is another way to give digitally. A receipt for your donations will be sent through email and can be done on your schedule. Although CanadaHelps deducts a 4% fee for a one-time donation and 3.5% for monthly donations before forwarding the balance to St. James, you will receive a tax receipt for 100% of your donation.
